Our Beloved Summer review kdrama

Our Beloved Summer
Our Beloved Summer

I loved this drama! It was an excellent summery feel-good drama. I am surprised that it didn’t have higher ratings. The characters were terrific, and I enjoyed watching them interact.

Story Summary

The story is about a family of four sisters separated at birth. Different families adopted them, but they all grew up as one, with their mother as the glue that holds them together. When the eldest sister goes missing, the other three sisters embark on a journey to find her—but it’s not easy going!

The drama is set in the 1990s and stars Lee Min Jung as Kang Mo Yeon (Gong Hyo Jin), Cha Seung Won as Sung Song Il (Lee Bo Young), Kim So Eun as Joo Hae Young (Kim Ha Neul), and Kim Sang Min as Yoon Je Woon (Kim Jun Ho).

The Good

The Good

There are a lot of things that make this drama suitable, but here are the ones I’ll focus on:

  • Acting. The show’s actors are great and do a great job at bringing the characters to life. An excellent mix of young and old actors can fill any role with their style. They also played off each other well enough that it felt more like watching friends hanging out than watching actors playing parts (which happens quite often).
  • Storyline/Setting/Soundtrack/Cinematography etc., etc., etc.. While there isn’t much story here, what little there is gets your attention! You’ll be rooting for these characters all season long because they’re so likable; they’re relatable despite their flaws or shortcomings (or maybe because of them), making me love them even more! And then there’s music… oh man… KORG! Every episode has amazing soundtracks composed by Kim Jung Hyun with help from “The Dream,” which “adds another layer to everything happening around us.”

The Bad

Some story lines were a bit predictable, and the acting could have been better.

The ending of this story was also not as satisfying as it could have been.

The Characters

The characters in this show were all likable and relatable. I enjoyed the chemistry between each of them, and I felt like they were all very different from each other. They had their personalities and motivations for everything they did (except for one or two).

Thank you for reading!

I enjoyed this drama. It was an excellent summery feel-good drama. I am surprised that it didn’t have higher ratings, but I think that’s because people were still recovering from the finale of Season 1 of WGM and had not seen enough episodes to get into this one yet.

I liked the story, characters, and even some of their interactions (especially when they had to work together). The ending was satisfactory but not perfect; however, if you’re looking for something lighthearted and fun, this is worth checking out!

Conclusion

I enjoyed this drama. It was an excellent summery feel-good drama. I am surprised that it didn’t have higher ratings.
